Initial dose: 5 mg daily for up to 4 months
Maintenance: 5 mg every 1 to 7 days, based on clinical need

Over 1 year: Same dosage as adults
Dosage must be tailored by a physician based on individual patient needs.

Known hypersensitivity or intolerance to folic acid
Folic OS is considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when taken as prescribed. No special precautions are necessary.
Avoid using folic acid alone in patients with undiagnosed megaloblastic anemia, especially if Vitamin B12 deficiency is suspected.
In B12-deficient individuals, folic acid alone may mask symptoms and lead to serious neurological complications, such as subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord.
In elderly patients, check Vitamin B12 levels before starting long-term folate therapy.
Use cautiously in individuals with folate-dependent tumors.
