Indications of Flindof 200
Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease symptoms can be treated and prevented with the help of Flindof 200. (a lung disorder in which the flow of air to the lung is blocked). It facilitates airway relaxation, which opens up the airway and facilitates better breathing.
Pharmacology
The drug doxophylline is a brand-new bronchodilator. The inclusion of a dioxolane group in position 7 distinguishes it from Theophylline structurally. Doxophylline relaxes bronchial smooth muscle by inhibiting phosphodiesterase 4 specifically. Doxophylline, unlike Theophylline, appears to have a lower affinity for adenosine A1 and A2 receptors, which might explain the drug's improved safety profile. Doxophylline has been shown to decrease platelet-activating factor (PAF) synthesis as well as the formation of leukotrienes.
Dosage & Administration
- Elderly: Take two or three 200 mg tablets each day.
- Adults: Take one 400 mg tablet two or three times daily, or as directed by your doctor.
Children:
- >12 years of age: 10 ml syrup or 200 mg tablet two or three times daily.
- 6-12 years of age: 6-9 mg/kg body weight two times daily, i.e. if body weight is 10 kg, 3 ml (60 mg) two times daily or as prescribed by the physician.
If a required daily dose of Doxophylline is 400 mg then the Doxophylline SR tablet is to be taken once daily or as prescribed by the physician.
Interaction of Flindof 200
Other xanthine derivatives should not be used along with doxophylline. Xanthines have been shown to have toxic synergism with ephedrine. Concomitant treatment with troleandomycin, lincomycin, clindamycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, ranitidine, propranolol, and anti-flu vaccination, as with other xanthines, may reduce xanthine hepatic clearance, resulting in an increase in blood levels. There has been no indication of a link between Doxophylline serum concentrations and harmful occurrences.
Contraindications
In acute myocardial infarction, doxophylline is contraindicated. Individuals with hypotension, breastfeeding women, and patients who have proven allergy to its components are also advised against using it.
Side Effects of Flindof 200
Doxophylline seldom produces significant adverse effects, although it can have the same consequences as taking too much coffee. Nausea, vomiting, headaches, upset stomach, and heartburn are some of the symptoms.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Animal reproduction studies show that doxophylline has no effect on reproductive capacity or causes fetal damage when given to pregnant animals. However, because there is minimal experience with xanthines during pregnancy in humans, they should only be administered to pregnant women if absolutely necessary. Doxophylline should not be used by breastfeeding mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
A number of known factors impact the half-life of xanthine derivatives. Patients with liver illness, congestive heart failure, and those on certain other medicines such as erythromycin, troleandomycin, lincomycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, propranolol, and the anti-flu vaccine may have a delay. In these instances, a reduced Doxophylline dosage may be required. Smoking, phenytoin, and other anticonvulsants may induce an increase in clearance and a shorter mean half-life. In these situations, larger Doxophylline dosages may be required.
