Pack Image of Agotin 25 mg Tablet — Agomelatine, the active ingredient in Agotin, is a melatonergic agonist (MT1 and MT2 receptors) and a 5-HT2C receptor antagonist. Unlike other antidepressants, it does not affect monoamine uptake or bind to adrenergic, histaminergic, cholinergic, dopaminergic, or benzodiazepine receptors. Agomelatine helps in resynchronizing disrupted circadian rhythms in animal models. It also increases the release of noradrenaline and dopamine in the frontal cortex, without affecting serotonin levels.

Standard Dose: Adults typically take 25 mg once daily, preferably at bedtime, for at least two weeks.

If there is no noticeable improvement, the dose may be increased to 50 mg daily (two tablets).
