Miconazole belongs to the imidazole class of antifungal agents and works by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, which disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity, leading to cell death. It is active against a range of fungi, including Candida, Aspergillus, Cryptococcus neoformans, and Pseudallescheria boydii, along with certain Gram-positive bacteria.
Hydrocortisone is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring glucocorticoid. It exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antifungal, and vasoconstrictive effects. When applied topically, it penetrates skin cells and blocks the release of substances responsible for inflammation, thus reducing swelling, redness, and itching.
Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area 2 to 4 times daily for 1 to 2 weeks, gently massaging it into the skin until fully absorbed. Continue treatment for at least one week after all symptoms have cleared to prevent recurrence. The dosage is the same for adults and children.
Amphotericin B may reduce the effectiveness of miconazole when used simultaneously.
Do not use in individuals allergic to miconazole, hydrocortisone, or any components of the formulation.
Should not be used during pregnancy or lactation without consulting a healthcare provider.
High doses of corticosteroids in animal studies have shown potential fetal developmental risks. Therefore, topical corticosteroids should be used cautiously and not extensively during pregnancy.
Store below 30°C, away from direct light and moisture. Keep out of children’s reach.
