A-Clox 500 is an antibiotic effective against various bacterial infections, including those of the throat, ear, nasal sinuses, respiratory tract, skin, and soft tissue. It primarily targets gram-positive bacteria.
✔️ Pharmacology
A-Clox 500 mg inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls.
✔️ Dosage & Administration of A Clox 500mg Capsule
Dosage varies depending on the type and severity of the infection and the patient's age.
- Examples of dosages include:
- Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (Adult): 250 mg orally every 6 hours for 7 to 14 days.
- Pneumonia (Adult): 500 mg orally every 6 hours for up to 21 days.
- Skin and Structure Infection (Adult): 500 mg orally every 6 hours for 7 days.
- Cystitis (rarely indicated): 250 mg orally every 6 hours for 3 to 7 days.
- Maximum daily dose: 4 g/day.

- Interaction with BCG and typhoid vaccines, methotrexate, Na picosulfate, mycophenolate, anticoagulants, probenecid, tetracycline.
