✅ Description:
Azicin GFS 50ml is a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in both adults and children. These include infections of the respiratory tract, skin, eyes, ears, nose, throat, and lungs. It is also indicated in typhoid fever and certain sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea. Azicin works by eliminating or inhibiting the growth of bacteria responsible for these infections.

- Otitis media

✔️ Dosage & Administration
Adults (Oral):
- Respiratory/Skin Infections: 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
- Chlamydial Infections/Chancroid: 1 g single dose.
- Uncomplicated Gonorrhea: 2 g single dose.
- Typhoid Fever: 1 g daily for 5 days.
- MAC prophylaxis: 1.2 g weekly; treatment: 500 mg daily with other agents.
- Granuloma Inguinale: 1 g initial dose, followed by 500 mg daily until lesions resolve.
Children (Oral):
- Otitis media: 10 mg/kg on day 1, then 5 mg/kg for 4 days; or 30 mg/kg as a single dose.
- Pharyngitis: 12 mg/kg daily for 5 days.
- Sinusitis: 10 mg/kg daily for 3 days.
- Pneumonia (CABP): 10 mg/kg on day 1, then 5 mg/kg for 4 days.
Administration Tips:
- Preferably take 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
- Antacids should be avoided 2 hours before and after dosing.
- Oral suspension should be taken as prescribed and evenly spaced throughout the day.
- Shake well before use.

- Renal impairment: No dosage adjustment typically needed.
- Hepatic impairment: Use with caution; no standard dose adjustment required.

May increase serum levels of digoxin, phenytoin, ciclosporin, terfenadine, and hexobarbital.
Antacids may reduce azithromycin absorption.
