✔️ Dosage of Polycef 1gm/vial for children

For children over nine months, the dose is 25 to 50 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 6 or 12 hours. For otitis media due to H. influenzae, 75 to 100 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 6 or 12 hours.

✔️ Dosage of Polycef 1 gm/vial

Adults:

Respiratory and skin infections: 250 mg every 6 hours or 500 mg every 12 hours.
Lobar pneumonia: 500 mg every 6 hours or 1 g every 12 hours.
Urinary tract infections: 500 mg every 12 hours, up to 500 mg every 6 hours for severe cases.

Children:

25 to 50 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 6 or 12 hours.
Otitis media: 75 to 100 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 6 or 12 hours, not exceeding 4 g per day.

Elderly:

The normal adult dose is appropriate, with monitoring for renal or hepatic impairment.

Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances and hypersensitivity reactions like rashes and urticaria. Rare side effects include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Symptoms of overdose are nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Treatment is supportive, and gastric lavage may be necessary if a large amount has been ingested.
