✔️ Pharmacology:
- Lioresal 25 mg acts as a muscle relaxant and antispastic agent, mainly at the spinal level.
- Though its exact mechanism is unclear, it works by stimulating GABAB receptors, inhibiting the release of glutamate and aspartate, and affecting both monosynaptic and polysynaptic reflexes.
- It may also depress the central nervous system (CNS) at intraspinal sites without impacting neuromuscular transmission.
- Exhibits an antinociceptive (pain-relieving) effect, though the clinical relevance is uncertain.
✔️ Dosage & Administration of Lioresal 25mg Tablet
- Adults: Typically divided doses, three times a day, starting low and increasing gradually. Usual range: 30-80 mg daily; maximum: 80 mg daily.
- Children: Start with very low doses (0.3 mg/kg per day, divided) and increase cautiously. Maintenance dose: 0.75 to 2 mg/kg per day. For children over 10 years, maximum: 2.5 mg/kg per day.
- Take with a small amount of liquid during meals.
