Metformin Hydrochloride is an oral antidiabetic drug that works by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a common feature of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which can lead to ovulatory dysfunction and infertility. Metformin can improve ovulatory function and fertility in women with PCOS by reducing insulin resistance and lowering androgen levels, which can improve follicular development and reduce the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
