✔️ How does Brimodin Plus Eye Drop work?

Brimodin Plus is a combination of two drugs: Timolol and Brimonidine. Timolol is a beta-blocker, and Brimonidine is a sympathomimetic. Together, they reduce the production of aqueous humor (eye fluid), thus lowering increased eye pressure.

✔️ Side Effects of Brimodin Plus Eye Drop

The most commonly reported side effects include allergic conjunctivitis, conjunctival folliculitis, conjunctival hyperemia, eye itching, and ocular burning or stinging.

• Brimodin Plus is a combination medication that lowers high eye pressure and reduces the risk of vision loss.
• Apply pressure to the corner of the eye (near the nose) for about one minute immediately after applying the drops.
• If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including your eye, to prevent contamination.
• Wait at least 5-10 minutes before applying other eye medications to avoid dilution.
• This medication may cause temporary blurred vision. Use caution when driving or using machinery.
• Temporary burning or itching in the eye is common; consult your doctor if it persists.

✔️ Pharmacology

The eye drops contain two active ingredients: Brimonidine Tartrate and Timolol Maleate. Brimonidine Tartrate is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist with a dual action: it reduces aqueous humor production and increases non-pressure-dependent uveoscleral outflow. Timolol Maleate is a β-adrenergic receptor antagonist that lacks significant intrinsic sympathomimetic, direct myocardial depressant, or local anesthetic activity. It lowers IOP by decreasing aqueous humor production. The combination of these drugs provides a rapid onset of action, with the peak ocular hypotensive effect occurring within two hours after administration.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Brimodin Plus Eye Drop

Administer 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily.

• Children: The safety and effectiveness of children under the age of 2 years have not been established.
• Elderly Patients: No significant differences in safety or effectiveness have been observed between elderly and other adult patients.

✔️ Contraindications

This product is contraindicated for patients who are hypersensitive to any of its components. It is also contraindicated in patients with bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sinus bradycardia, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, overt cardiac failure, and cardiogenic shock.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies on the use of this medication in pregnant women. It should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits justify the potential risks to the fetus. Timolol has been detected in human breast milk, but it is not known whether Brimonidine Tartrate is excreted in human milk. A decision should be made to either discontinue nursing or stop the medication, considering the drug's importance to the mother.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Patients using soft contact lenses should wait at least 15 minutes after applying Brimodin Plus before reinserting their lenses.
• Use caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, cardiovascular disease, depression, cerebral or coronary insufficiency, Raynaud's phenomenon, orthostatic hypotension, or thromboangiitis obliterans.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation.

✔️ Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Do not use the eye drops for more than 30 days after opening the bottle. Keep out of reach of children.
